Statement of Governor-elect Bob McDonnell on Republican Nomination of Jeff McWaters for State Senate

RICHMOND- Virginia Governor-elect Bob McDonnell issued the following statement this morning regarding yesterday’s nomination of Jeff McWaters as the Republican candidate for the State Senate in the 8th District.
“I congratulate Jeff McWaters on gaining our Party’s nomination for State Senator for the 8th District. And I applaud Rosemary Wilson for her strong and impressive campaign. On a cold and rainy Saturday in early December over 7,000 voters went to the polls to make their voices heard. That is a testament to the quality of the candidates running, and the strength of our Republican Party.
“For 18 years, the voters of the 8th District have been well represented by Ken Stolle. Ken’s leadership and integrity will be missed in Richmond. It is imperative that the next Senator from the 8th District be someone capable of picking up where Ken left off, and of continuing his commitment to our Commonwealth. Jeff McWaters will be that Senator. His business background makes him uniquely suited to play a leading role in the effort to create new jobs all across Virginia. Jeff knows the importance of enacting public policy that will help Virginia’s private sector job creators.  I look forward to campaigning with Jeff, and to working with him in Richmond to bring new jobs and more opportunities to every community in Virginia.
