Statement of Bob McDonnell on Governor’s Postponement of HOT Lane Project in Northern Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, issued the following statement regarding the Governor’s postponement of the HOT Lane project planned for 95 and 395 in Northern Virginia.
“I oppose the Governor’s postponement of the HOT Lane project proposed for 95 and 395 between the Pentagon and Massaponax. These proposed HOT Lanes are an important part of the overall effort to reduce congestion in this extremely busy corridor. While I understand that there are tough economic challenges facing Virginia we cannot continue to delay innovative public private partnership agreements that provide market-based solutions and more choices for Northern Virginia commuters. As governor I will find faster ways to get road projects built and leverage limited state resources with properly constructed public private partnerships that benefit Virginians and get traffic moving again.”
