New Ad Highlights McDonnell’s Support of Virginia Workers and Consumers
In Spot, MeadWestvaco Covington Mill Manager Speaks about Potential Impact of Cap and Trade Scheme
Ad Released as Cap and Trade Proponent Al Gore Raises Money for Creigh Deeds
RICHMOND- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, is up with a new ad today detailing the potential impacts of a cap and trade scheme on the economy of the Alleghany Highlands, and his longstanding opposition to such a program. The ad features MeadWestvaco Covington Mill Manager Mark George explaining the devastating effects that a job-killing policy like Cap and Trade would have on Virginia’s hard working families.
The ad begins airing on the same day that Al Gore, one of the leading proponents of a costly Cap and Trade scheme, holds a high-dollar fundraiser for Creigh Deeds.
“MeadWestvaco” is running in the Roanoke and Tri-Cities markets.
The Ad States:
Announcer: Creigh Deeds called for a Washington-style Cap and Trade energy tax putting jobs in his state senate district at risk.
Mark George, Mill Manager, MeadWestvaco: Covington is a nice town in the Alleghany Highlands. If the mill were to close this would virtually be a ghost town. Cap and Trade policies will kill Virginia jobs. What people don’t understand is the impact it’s going to have on the working families in this country. This energy tax can kill 1400 jobs at this company. Bob McDonnell is against Cap and Trade policies because he understands what it would do to the families in the Highlands.
