2,758 First-Time Donors; 2,426 Donations of $100 or Less

RICHMOND- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, raised just over $4 million in the first 21 days of October. He concluded the filing period with $1.8 million on hand. McDonnell also continued to generate tremendous grass root support, picking up 2,758 first time donors over the period and receiving donations of $100 or less from 2,426 donors.

Speaking about the campaign’s continued fundraising momentum, McDonnell for Governor Campaign Manager Phil Cox noted, “Virginians are investing in the optimistic campaign and positive vision put forward by Bob McDonnell. Bob has laid out clear, comprehensive and innovative plans to address the challenges we face, and Virginians are excited about his positive vision for the future. That is clear in this finance report. It is equally clear at the grassroots level.  In just 21 days we received support from another 2,758 first time donors, and 2,426 donors gave $100 or less. And this fundraising success is being replicated on the ground. This past weekend, our volunteers knocked on twice as many doors as Virginia Republicans did last year at the same time. As this campaign enters the final days we have the resources we need to continue getting Bob’s positive vision out to voters statewide. And we have all the momentum in this race. Virginians know that Bob is the candidate in this race committed to keeping taxes low, controlling spending, improving our schools, getting traffic moving again and creating new jobs all across the state.”
