McDonnell Campaign Announces Additions to Press Office

Crystal Cameron to Serve as Press Secretary; Taylor Thornley Joins Campaign as Press Assistant

Richmond- The McDonnell campaign announced today two new additions to the press office.

Joining the campaign as Press Secretary is Crystal Cameron. Taylor Thornley will serve as Press Assistant for the campaign.

Speaking about the new additions to the press office, McDonnell for Governor Director of Communications J. Tucker Martin noted, “Crystal and Taylor are great additions to the McDonnell campaign. They bring with them broad professional experience and they are both committed to getting Bob McDonnell’s positive message of new jobs and more opportunities out to every citizen of Virginia. We are pleased to welcome them to the campaign.”

About Crystal Cameron:

Crystal Cameron has over a decade of experience in television news.  For the past three years Crystal has served as the morning anchor and a political reporter at WVIR NBC 29 in Charlottesville. Prior to her time at WVIR, Crystal worked as the weekend anchor, executive producer and investigative reporter for WMBB-TV in Panama City Beach, Florida. 

Before she began her on-air career, Crystal worked as an Assistant Producer for WESH, the NBC affiliate in Orlando, Florida.  She began her news career in Daytona Beach, Florida as a co-host for a political talk show on WNDB radio. 

Crystal worked on former Florida Representative Bill Sublette’s Congressional campaign in 2000.  She also worked with the former Speaker of the House in Florida and with former Florida Congressman Tom Feeney.  Crystal graduated from University of Central Florida with a degree in Political Science and Mass Communications.

Crystal will serve as the campaign’s primary spokesperson.

About Taylor Thornley

Joining the campaign as Press Assistant is Taylor Thornley. Taylor served as Press Assistant to Cindy McCain during the 2008 Presidential campaign. As Press Assistant she traveled with Mrs. McCain to the Republican National Convention, on a bus tour through Pennsylvania and on a media tour with Rudy Giuliani in Florida.  Taylor also assisted with booking Mrs. McCain’s national and local interviews.  Prior to working on the McCain campaign she interned at the Republican National Committee Washington, DC headquarters in the communications department in the summer of 2007.  Taylor is a 2009 graduate of Southern Methodist University.

Taylor will oversee media booking, event planning, logistics, press accommodations as well as handling other duties in the press office.
