Raises $3.8 million in Last Period from 6,440 Donors

RICHMOND- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, enters the final three weeks of the 2009 gubernatorial campaign with $4.5 million cash on hand. The campaign raised $3.8 million in the last reporting period. 6,440 donors contributed to the campaign. In a continued sign of the campaign’s growing grassroots support, 4,454 donors gave contributions of $100 or less, and the campaign had 4,819 new donors during the one-month reporting period.
Speaking about the impressive fundraising total, broad support and resources available for the final three weeks, McDonnell for Governor Campaign Manager Phil Cox noted, “With three weeks left in the race we have great momentum and the resources we need to continue to get Bob McDonnell’s new ideas and positive vision out to voters across the state. As every poll demonstrates, Bob McDonnell’s positive campaign and innovative solutions to key challenges facing our state are resonating with Virginians. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from 6,440 donors, 4,454 donors who each gave $100 or less, and 4,819 first-time contributors.”
Cox continued, “Bankrolled by big national labor unions and national Democrats, we know Creigh Deeds will continue to run one of the most negative and divisive campaigns in Virginia political history. The conduct of his campaign to date gives us no reason to expect him to address the issues Virginians are concerned about.
