McDonnell: $1.5 Million Cash on Hand Advantage
6,239 Donors: Nearly 4,000 More than Democratic Opponent
—Raises Almost $3 Million in Period—
RICHMOND- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, enters the final 50 days of the governor’s race with a $1.5 million cash on hand advantage over his Democratic opponent. McDonnell has $5.8 million in the bank.
McDonnell had 6,239 donors, almost 4,000 more donors than his Democratic opponent. McDonnell raised nearly $3 million for the period, with only $350,000 coming from national Republican groups.
Speaking about the continued, and notable, advantages in both cash on hand and total donors, McDonnell for Governor Campaign Manager Phil Cox noted, “With a significant advantage in our cash on hand and nearly 4,000 more donors than our opponent, we have great momentum and are in a strong position for the final 50 days of this campaign. The fact that we have nearly 4,000 more donors than Creigh Deeds is reflective of the grassroots energy we have seen building throughout our campaign. It is clear that Virginians are rallying behind Bob’s positive message of new jobs and more opportunities. They continue to demonstrate this through their continued contributions, phone banking, and door-knocking.”
