FACT CHECK: Deeds Once Again Launches False, Deceptive Attack Ads
Creigh Deeds continues his campaign on divisive social issues, making the following erroneous claims in his latest attack ads:
Claim: “Introduced 35 bills restricting a woman’s choice.”
WRONG
The Facts: As a delegate, Bob McDonnell was chief patron of 386 pieces of legislation. Only 8 dealt with abortion (5 were the same bill).
The Breakdown:
Public Safety - 51.03% (197 bills)
Economy, Healthcare and Transportation - 19.68% (76 bills)
Miscellaneous - 13.47% (52 bills)
Justice - 11.11% (43 bills)
Child Support - 2.59% (10 bills)
Abortion - 2.07% (8 bills)
Claim: “And you opposed birth control for married adults.”
WRONG
The Facts: Bob McDonnell has NEVER opposed birth control for married adults.
