Business Leaders for McDonnell” Coalition Announced

Over 200 Virginia Business Leaders Join NFIB, Virginia’s Realtors, Virginia’s Credit Unions and Virginia Farm Bureau in Backing McDonnell

Conference Call to Announce Coalition Features Mark Kington, Managing Director of X-10 Capital, LLC and John Luke, Chairman and CEO of MeadWestvaco

RICHMOND- Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, announced today the formation of a “Business Leaders for McDonnell” coalition as the governor’s race enters its final weeks. “Business Leaders for McDonnell” consists of over 200 business leaders from across the Commonwealth who are backing Bob McDonnell due to his strong record of standing up for Virginia’s job creators, and his positive vision to bring new jobs and more opportunities to every region of the Commonwealth over the next four years. Joining McDonnell on the conference call announcing the coalition were Mark Kington, the Managing Director of X-10 Capital, LLC in Alexandria and John Luke Jr., Chairman and CEO of MeadWestvaco.

Speaking about the coalition, Bob McDonnell remarked “This campaign is about jobs and the economy. Virginians are concerned about the jobs they have, worried about finding the new jobs they need, and looking for leadership to get our economy back on track. We have devoted our campaign to rolling out positive and bold policy proposals to reenergize our economy, help our business owners create new jobs and expand their operations, and provide all Virginians with the good opportunities they need and deserve. The men and women on this list know this is the campaign on the side of Virginia’s job creators and workers. They know where I stand on the issues crucial to Virginia’s economy in the years ahead. In this race I am the only candidate speaking out clearly and unequivocally against card check and cap and trade. I am the only candidate with a record of, and commitment to, keeping taxes, regulation and litigation at a minimum. Because of this pro-jobs record and vision our campaign has also been endorsed by The National Federation of Independent Businesses, Virginia’s Realtors, Virginia’s Credit Unions and the Virginia Farm Bureau. I look forward to working with Virginia’s job creators and business leaders over the next four years to get our economy turned around and spark an economic resurgence all across the Commonwealth.”

Mark Kington noted, “I have over the years supported both Republicans and Democrats, and in each election my decision of support has focused upon the particular needs of that time, and the skills and life experiences of each prospective office holder.  In this case, the Commonwealth is presented with a clearly superior candidate in Bob McDonnell-a person with a wealth of experience, strong and proven leadership skills, and a pragmatism to find solutions in difficult times.  Bob McDonnell is focused on the issues that matter to Virginians and how they lead their daily lives-job creation, education excellence, transportation solutions-and I proudly support him as our next governor.”

John Luke Jr. remarked, “I support Bob McDonnell because he is a leader who understands what’s required to create and sustain a globally competitive economy.  At a time like the present, when our economy is under great stress, we need leaders like Bob in Virginia-and all across our country. Bob is committed to establishing a strong business climate that will encourage the investment necessary to secure the good jobs that we have in already competitive industries in Virginia and to create new jobs in the coming years.  The Commonwealth has long been the leading ‘pro-commerce’ state; Bob’s plans will secure and strengthen that lead.”

Thousands of other business men and women have donated to and support Bob McDonnell for governor. The list below is the leadership of “Business Leaders for McDonnell.”
