McDonnell Announces 30-Day Extensions for State Tax Returns for Individuals Affected by F-18 Crash

Apr 13, 2012

On April 6, a US Navy F-18 crashed into the Mayfair Mews apartment complex. While, thanks to the heroic actions of the pilots, citizens and first responders, there was no loss of life, the residents of the apartment complex did face significant loss and now look to rebuild. I hope this extension will alleviate some of the concerns of those citizens regarding their 2012 tax payments. The Commonwealth will continue to take any and all steps necessary to help our citizens as they recover from the events of last Friday.

Reunited

Apr 09, 2012

From Secretary Terrie Suit: “Kim’s friend approached me at a residents’ meeting, following the April 6 crash of an F/A-18D Hornet. She said Kim was horribly distraught and didn’t know if her cat, Cupcake had survived. I tracked down the fire chief and he made it his mission to find Cupcake. We sent Kim’s keys over to the site and EMS went in and found her apartment still intact. They found Cupcake and her carrier and brought her to me and I got to reunite them. It was awesome!!! Lots of tears and hugs.” -Terrie Suit formerly represented Virginia Beach in the House of Delegates and serves as Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security
