McDonnell Makes Va. Most Veteran Friendly State

RICHMOND - In conjunction with this weekend’s Crown Royal Heath Calhoun 400 at Richmond International Raceway, Governor Bob McDonnell wants Virginia to give back to veterans who have put their lives on the line.

Thursday he signed legislation aimed at making Virginia the nation’s most veteran friendly state. He proclaimed May as “Crown Royal Heath Calhoun 400” month. The race was named after a Virginia veteran and paralympic athlete.

Wine industry show to be in Richmond in 2011

Virginia’s burgeoning wine industry scored a victory yesterday with the announcement that North America’s second-largest vineyard and winery trade show and conference will he held in Richmond next year.  The Wineries Unlimited trade show is expected to bring about 2,000 visitors and $1.5 million in revenue to Virginia, Gov. Bob McDonnell’s office announced.
