A new state-wide poll gives Republican Bob McDonnell a double digit lead in the race for Governor.  The latest News 7 Survey USA poll has McDonnell ahead of Democrat Creigh Deeds by 14 percentage points, with 55 percent of the vote to 41 percent.

For example, his “transportation plan” is to support tax increases, while passing on the actual job of producing a plan to a commission after the election. McDonnell, Bolling propose reforms to Va. budget

The Republican candidates for Virginia governor and lieutenant governor proposed Monday to overhaul the state’s budget making by tying agency spending to performance, expanding “rainy day” reserves and enacting a series of audits, among other measures. The package of reforms “shows our commitment to restoring fiscal integrity to the budget process,” Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is seeking re-election, told reporters in a conference call with Republican gubernatorial nominee Bob McDonnell.

McDonnell: Plan would boost transportation, avoid education cuts

Bob McDonnell, the Republican nominee for governor, insisted yesterday that he can raise money for transportation without raising taxes or taking money that now goes to education.  During an appearance by McDonnell on “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace noted that 46 percent of Virginia’s general fund goes to education, 24 percent to health and human resources and 11 percent to public safety.

Chamber of Commerce endorses McDonnell

Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia Bob McDonnell just picked up another endorsement. The Hampton Roads Business PAC, a public policy committee of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, endorsed McDonnell Friday citing his transportation plan and business record as important factors in their decision.
