Attorney General Bob McDonnell donated $1,000 toward St. Joseph School’s $1 million fundraising goal during a tour yesterday morning.
When he read about the Petersburg school’s financial troubles, he decided to visit the school hoping to get other people involved, he said.

St. Joseph School is a quarter of the way of reaching a $1 million goal with the inclusion of donations from Attorney General Bob McDonnell and others.
McDonnell toured the school yesterday morning after hearing about the school’s plight, which is garnering national attention in the wake of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to America and the release of a study on fiscally-struggling Catholic schools.

Over the past few weeks, friends of the Petersburg school have come forward with donations. Local painters, roofers and drywallers have given their time and work free of charge to try and make improvements to the building. So far, the school still needs more help. Attorney General Bob McDonnell is lending a hend to draw attention to their cause. He will tour the school Monday around 10 am to meet with students and faculty at St. Joseph’s.
