Yesterday morning, Governor McDonnell sat down for an interview on Morning Joe (MSNBC) to discuss Virginia’s job creation and education initiatives.

The discussion provided a great opportunity for the Governor to talk about the progress Virginia has made in both areas: Virginia has been ranked the most business friendly state in the country several times, and is among the top five in recent job creation; and the Governor surprised the hosts by pointing out that President Obama’s Race to the Top education plan would be harmful to the Commonwealth because our education standards are already higher than what the President is proposing – in short, the federal mandate would reverse progress already made in Virginia – so he removed the Commonwealth from the program.
