Privatizing ABC means Traffic Relief
This afternoon, Governor McDonnell’s staff unveiled his administration’s plan to invest $500 million in transportation without raising taxes by privatizing the state’s ABC stores. His plan includes:
- Providing $500 million in new money for transportation without raising taxes;
- Ending the state monopoly and getting government out of the liquor business;
- Increasing enforcement;
- Establishing a Transportation Infrastructure Bank to provide loans to counties and cities based on congestion and economic development needs;
- Keeping the number of outlets below the national average with most going in existing stores.
Now we need your help!
ABC privatization has long had strong bipartisan support, but we need to keep getting the word out on this common-sense plan to generate new funding for transportation without raising taxes.
To help you, we’ve launched www.VATrafficRelief.com.
At the site you can learn more about the plan, and how you can play an important role in helping to ease traffic congestion and get Virginia moving again.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Phil Cox
