Great stuff Bob! If anyone has a plan for businesses that will work for the state it is you.

Bob you need to comment on the Anti-Military Election Board, it’s an outrage that our folks in the front line fighting for this country may not have their vote counted

Mr. McDonnell,

I am concerned about our public education.  Specificaly the SOL’s.  I don’t like where they have taken us.  I am a Chief in the U.S. Navy and I have 4 children.  My oldest is in the 6th grade.  When my wife and I attended the orientation before school started I was very disapointed in what I had heard.  The History teacher told us that our children wouldn’t be reading much of there history books because they would be bouncing around to much.  Since history books are all the same and are written in chronological order I asked why.  The answer I was given was that due to the SOL’s they would have to teach to them, and that “They didn’t want to confuse the children with the details of History”.  You can imagine my disgust.  Since history is how we learn what to do and what not to do today and in the future, I feel that those details are important.  For example, If our current Federal Government had an Idea of what history has taught us about Socialist Governing we would not be heading in the direction we are and our economy would not be in the tank.  I voiced my opinion and moved on.  The Math teacher explained about the calculator my 11 year old child would need.  I asked what type of Math she would be teaching that would require my 11 year old daughter to use a calculator.  The teacher beat around the bush with her answer.  I made it clear for her by asking if she would be teaching calculus, trig, advanced geometry or any math like that.  She said no.  So I restated my initial question and recieved no answer.  Just this past week my daughter had a question on her math homework.  She was confused about how to do prime number facorization.  To you and I this is a simple thing, to my daughter not so much.  when I explained it to her she pulled out her calculator and I took it away.  She told me that her teacher told them to do it that way.  I am disgusted with this.  I have told my daughter that she is not allowed to use a calculator unless I tell her to at any time, because I don’t want her to grow up to be ignorant.  I have found that My wife and I spend most of our family time teaching our children the things school falls short on.  I have no problem teaching my children, that is my job as a father.  However when I have to deal with this type of dumbing down of my children I don’t feel I or anyone else should have to have our tax dollars pay for it.  I don’t have the ability to pay for private school, or I would.  My question for you is how do you plan to fix this situation?  My suggestion is to implement School vouchers.  This is only one of the many situations that concern me.  My childrens future is the moste important though.

Very Respectfuly
William Lockwood
