I know you’ll keep it classy! Finally the GOP is making some responsible decisions…
Governor,
This is a great opportunity to make the Republican Party look level-headed, responsible, and congenial. I hope you’ll keep that in mind.
This will be the best Republican response to a SOTUA in years!
Governor;
Congratulations on your election and on being selected to present the Republican response to the State Of The Union Address.
I would ask that you make it clear to the American people why we can’t support the President’s big government agenda. Big government is never a good idea but particularly at a time when we have serious economic problems and real unemployment at near 20%. When our debt is looming at $12.3 Trillion today, with another $2 Trillion to be added this year, we simply can not afford more deficit spending. We are currently paying $500 Million per day in interest on our debt. When we add in the unfunded liabilities of the US Government, which is today $107 Trillion for entitlements of Social Security, the Prescription Drug Plan and Medicare, it is clear that the Government is out of control and this kind of debt is unsustainable. If we continue on this course, our government will bankrupt the country. A Trillion Dollars is an unfathomable sum for most people. To put it into some perspective, spending $10 Million per day would take 273 years to spend $1 Trillion. The total cost of our debt and unfunded liabilites per capita is approximately $387,000. This is a stunning figure and the American people need to understand this is why we must get our budget and our government under control.
Congratulations Bob! This is quite an honor.
Congratulations again on your election and being selected to give the Republican response. I was priveliged to be in the audience for your inauguration. I remember you made a reference to a quote from George Washington..
I also noticed a quote entering the capitol…..
Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government. (Thomas Jefferson)
We are seeing this more each day. More people are becoming aware of their government and what they want from it.
Because “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” (Thomas Jefferson )
Good Luck
From a great piece on American Thinker:
“The Speech Needed to Save the Free World,” some thoughts on Mr. McDonnell’s response to the SOTU.

There are some really great ideas for talking points in the Morning Bell this morning from The Heritage Foundation.
It was written by the president of that organization. Those Ideas should be incorporated in the response.
The tax credits for childcare that Obama is touting sounds great, but stop and think about how few people they will help. His having the US gov make payments for child care is more spread the wealth. It is already being done in California from the first stimulus money. I know; I looked it up There is a lot of smoke and mirrors in what Obama is going to say tonight. The issue is will it keep small businesses open? Will it keep people in their current jobs instead of applying weather strip or shoveling gravel? We absolutely must keep small business open and sound. Also Call him out on why tax cuts, federal spending freeze, and small business loans weren’t the front line attack here. Why did the administration wait a year and only provide short term projects like road repair, home insulation, park revovations etc…. He must think our economy has already tanked and needing soup lines instead of the reality of lets hold steady, lets shore up those businesses and keep people in the jobs they have already.
Point out how his use of “fat cats” also can refer to Congress not just bankers. I for one am glad that banks made money. That is what everyone wants to do is make money . We must just be honest about it. I am furious over our government. Don’t let him get away w/smoke and mirrors. Call him out.
It doesn’t sound like you listened to the President’s speech? I also wonder why so many Republican legislators will do anything to oppose the President. This is so un-American. I am reminded of my cousin who will disagree with me even it I agree with her. I am a distant cousin of both Theodore and his niece Eleanor Roosevelt. I think that the Democrats and Republicans need to look at the dynamics of these two people to figure out how to get along.
If the Republicans know how to fix health care, then why has the Republicans done NOTHING!!!!! they ran the government for how long
AND BTW, as the bank leaders sat in front our Rep and said they had made big mistake that almost lead this nation in to depression, i worried why the Republicans still feel that companies should be able to run free. How many companies that rip off employees, manipulate the market, over charge the public (gas companies under Bush) and make investments so bad that it makes countries broke, does it take for the Republicans TO GET IT!!!!!
Governor Bob McDonnell,
I appreciate you keeping the response to Pres. Obama’s State of the Union Address professional. I am emailing to let you know that…
I am UNhappy that my tax dollars are being used to just block ALL bills that the democrats are working on (just for partisanship). I am UNhappy that republicans are not working with their democrat counterparts and are not supporting our President.
I am emailing you asking you to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop the partisanship. Please get work done. We canNot afford time and money wasted.
I am emailing to ask you to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support our President and allow him to get work done, please.
