I wanted to make sure you saw a few news items from the past week:  Earlier this week, Governor McDonnell was up at the NASDAQ stock exchange in Times Square where he rang the bell to promote Virginia businesses, and had time to sit down with Fox News and Bloomberg TV for interviews on his job creation and fiscal management work in the Commonwealth.

$4 Billion for Transportation


Just a few hours ago Governor McDonnell stood at a construction site along I-295 in Chester to sign into law the most significant investment in the Commonwealth’s transportation system in a generation.  The Governor’s legislation will pump nearly $4 billion into Virginia’s road, rail and transit networks - and fund more than 900 individual projects - over the next three years without raising taxes.

Successful Session; Strong Support


On Wednesday the General Assembly met in Richmond for their annual reconvened session. During that session the two chambers consider the Governor’s amendments and vetoes to previously passed legislation and the budget. The reconvened session produced the same result for the Governor as the regular session: broad success.
