Governor-elect McDonnell today picked Dr. Bill Hazel for VA’s Secretary of Health and Human Services

Governor-elect Announces Parade Participants

This morning, the Governor-elect announced that 47 groups from across Virginia will participate in his Inaugural Parade on Saturday. If you plan to attend, please bring a non-perishable food item or a coat to donate to local charities. Bins will line the parade route to collect these items.

Inaugural Schedule Update

The Governor-elect traveled to Alexandria this morning to volunteer at the Carpenter’s Shelter. This afternoon, he will hold a roundtable discussion on successful prison programs at the Henrico Jail East. Stay tuned for more updates throughout this Inaugural week.

Wednesday Inaugural Event

This afternoon, the Governor-elect will travel back to Richmond to volunteer at the Central Virginia Food Bank. Bob would like to thank everyone who has supported the local food banks throughout his Inaugural Week.

Monday Event Schedule

The Governor-elect is spending most of the day in Norfolk today, making a stop at the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia. This afternoon, Bob and NFL Hall-of-Famer Bruce Smith will team up for a youth outreach event at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Southeastern Virginia in Virginia Beach.

Hampton Roads Inaugural Ball

This evening, the Governor-elect will attend the Hampton Roads Inaugural Ball in Virginia Beach. This event will begin at 6:30pm. Bob is asking for everyone attending to please bring non-perishable food items as part of the Inaugural partnership with the Federation of Virginia Food Banks.

Bob’s Inaugural events begin today with an afternoon at the Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank and concluding the evening with the Southwest Inaugural Ball in Abingdon.

Bob Announces Appointments

This morning, the Governor-elect announced three additional appointments to his new administration: Jim Duffey as Secretary of Technology, Terrie Suit as Assistant to the Governor for Commonwealth Preparedness, and Doug Domenech as Secretary of Natural Resources.
