As many of you are aware, Bob McDonnell officially stepped down as the Commonwealth’s Attorney General last Friday to concentrate on his bid to become Virginia’s next governor.
Today Bob is in Washington D.C. at the Republican Governor’s Association where he will be delivering a speech.
Incumbent Gov. of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty, has just announced he will campaign for Bob here in Virginia.

Today marks Bob’s last day as the Commonwealth’s Attorney General, he will now commit his time campaigning to become Virginia’s next governor. Bob has described his role as Attorney General over the past three years as “the highest professional honor of his life.” As Bob McDonnell officially steps down, a number of prominent state and national leaders have recognized his service.
Congressman Eric Cantor says Bob has, “distinguished himself in his treatment of the professionals at the Attorney General’s Office and with his attention to the improvement of management efficiencies in the operation of the office.”

The Washington Post wrote an article detailing Bob’s plan to speak at the Republican Governors Association Monday, February 23.
Bob also stopped by Petersburg, where he addressed several Petersburg officials to discuss several current and future joint initiatives. At the meeting, Bob unveiled his latest anti-gang movie entitled, “The Wrong Family: Virginia Fights Back Against Gangs.”

This morning Bob McDonnell, Republican candidate for governor, held a meeting in Petersburg to discuss current and future joint initiatives. One such program that was discussed was the anti-gang, or GRIP program. Bob also released his latest anti-gang video entitled, “The Wrong Family: Virginia Fights Back Against Gangs.”
In attendance at the meeting was: Petersburg Police Chief John Dixon, Commonwealth’s Attorney Cassandra Burns, and Chief Deputy Attorney General Bill Mims.

Attorney General Robert F. McDonnell, the Republican nominee for governor this year, will speak at the Republican Governors Association annual gala Monday in Washington.
The gala is the RGA’s largest event of the year and is attended by most of the nation’s Republican governors.

Former RNC chair Ed Gillespie has just been named the General Chairman of the McDonnell for Governor campaign. A native of Virginia, Ed Gillespie has served as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, White House counselor and served in the United States Congress.
In describing Ed’s leadership ability Bob states, “Ed has a record of winning tough campaigns and helping to develop and enact policies that make life better for our citizens.”

A CNN Political Ticker article released today showcases the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial races. Though just briefly mentioning the Virginia race, the author notes that “Virginia Republicans are fielding their strongest candidate in years with Attorney General Bob McDonnell.”
On both a state and national level, Bob’s strong, conservative record is starting to get noticed.

The campaign wants to spotlight supporter Joseph Taylor’s blog “PWConservative.”
Joseph is a “Student for McDonnell” who has been a big help to the campaign thus far in helping get Bob’s message out through the blogosphere.

Mason Conservative is cautiously optimistic about Bob’s new poll numbers.
Virginia Virtucon thinks that recent political events are evidence the territory is ripe for a McDonnell victory.
Tim Craig from the Washington Post’s blog reports on Bob taking a stand for free market values by not supporting the General Assembly’s proposed smoking ban.
On Friday, Media Lizzy, an old friend of Bob’s, got Bob 1-on-1 for an audio interview about terrorism, President Obama, the USS Cole, Virginia’s connections to the military, and much more!

A new Rasmussen poll released today gave a breakdown of Bob McDonnell vs. each of the three potential Democratic nominees. Bob’s support ranged from 3 to 9 points ahead of each of his prospective opponents. It’s still early, but its clear that Bob’s conservative message is resonating with Virginians.
